Note how you can clearly see the eclipse at its peak as the moon came perfectly in front of the Sun's path; inducing the incredibly gorgeous total solar eclipse which occurred as shown below! DISCUSSION: Here is a view from the Eastern Pacific ocean of just over 4 minutes of totality! Note that the corona is subdued in this video! A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun which creates a bright circle around the periphery of the Moon with the Sun behind positioned directly behind the Moon relative to the position of Earth in its orbit.
