Catch the Hurricane Awareness Tour Along the East Coast! (credit: NWS Eastern Region HQ Office)4/16/2017 DISCUSSION: As has been a tradition of the National Hurricane Center for the passed couple of years, the National Hurricane Center has released the details for the 2017 Hurricane Awareness Tour locations and dates. As per the press release from the National Hurricane Center office: "Come tour Hurricane Hunter aircraft and meet the pilots and crew as well as forecasters from the National Hurricane Center and local forecast offices." These respective stops for the National Hurricane Center Hurricane Hunter Reconnaissance aircraft will help to educate the general public on the importance of and details pertaining to the research aircraft which fly out to the Tropical Atlantic and/or Tropical East Pacific to study tropical cyclones.
