DISCUSSION: Over the past couple of days, there were two particularly profound rounds of severe weather across both the South-Central Plains states as well as the Mid-Atlantic region. It is first important to establish the fact that these two respective severe weather events occurred via influences from substantially different and unique atmospheric dynamics. As is discussed within the article which is attached below (courtesy of Meteorologist Gene Norman), the critical factor which often determines whether or not a given severe weather forecast (either well ahead of the onset of the event or for specific storms developing in real-time during an ongoing severe weather event) is effective or not is often determined by how the given forecast is communicated and disseminated to the general public and various regional/state-wide offices who act as "support staff" for the National Weather Service network.
