DISCUSSION: As a low pressure system which has produced heavy rainfall and a wide swath of severe weather across the South-Central and Southeastern United States continues to push off to the east, the threat now resides in northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia. This tornado threat is due to a combination of strong vertical wind shear (clockwise change in wind direction with height and typically increasing wind speeds with height) across the threat area! Stay tuned to your local National Weather Service office for the latest information on this serious situation during the overnight hours!
