Heavy snowfall bearing down on western Nevada over the next few days! (credit: NWS Reno, Nevada)1/3/2017 DISCUSSION: Over the course of the next few days, the latest atmospheric river approaching and moving onshore along parts of the western United States will deliver major impacts to areas at both lower and higher elevations. As noted in the graphic above courtesy of the National Weather Service office located in Reno, Nevada there is expected to be substantial snowfall across multiple areas within western Nevada. As a result of this rapid snowfall accumulations which is anticipated at many higher elevations, it is imperative to remain mindful of both road conditions and visibility as you attempt to go out and about for daily activities over the next couple of days. If you do not absolutely have to travel through these areas (e.g., the cities as well as the surrounding suburbs thereof as listed in the graphic above), try to avoid doing so over the next 24 to 48 hours.
