DISCUSSION: Here is a wide array of some of the many snowfall totals spread across the eastern United States up to this point in the 2016-2017 Winter season. Here is more information concerning this Winter season thus far per the thoughts of the NWS Eastern Region Headquarters office.
"Here is a look at the Eastern US seasonal snowfall totals so far through the end of December. Little if any snow so far south of the Mason-Dixon line, but most areas farther north have seen snowfall totals much closer to average to this point in the season than last winter. The 2015-2016 winter snow season got off to an extremely slow start until the blizzard of January 22-23, 2016 dropped 18-36 inches of snow across the central Appalachians and much of the mid Atlantic region including the Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and NYC metro areas."
