DISCUSSION: Here is a nice 3-hour differential look at the Eastern New England surface observations in the wake of a strengthening coastal low pressure system. Note how in the two images below there is a transition from moderate-to-heavy snow to lighter snow in just a few hours! In addition, the stronger winds measured across the Eastern Northeast corridor quickly strengthened as a result of the pressure-gradient tightening. Quite a classic early Spring set-up as a coastal low-pressure system departs the Northeastern United States with a strengthening ridge approaching from the Southeastern United States!
