Across the South, this Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2017, folks were pulling out their winter clothing. Temperatures that plunged to below freezing levels across Texas and much of the Gulf Coast east to the western Florida Panhandle on Saturday morning did so again this morning. However, today, the sub-freezing chill also made it nearly as far south across Florida as… To read the full story, click here - http://www.weatherworks.com/lifelong-learning-blog/?p=1186

Fascinating. At around the same time Eastern Europe & Western Russia also experienced a cold plunge as far south as most of Italy & Greece. Much heavy snow, especially in Poland and adjoining locations. Moscow experienced minus 30 Celcius. This is equal to around 49 degrees of frost F. The U.K. is forecast to experience a cold plunge from the Arctic around 12th/ 13th. January.

Good morning Frederick,

As the CEO of the Global Weather and Climate Center, I just wanted to say thank you for your very insightful commentary and I forwarded your comments to Mike. Upon seeing those comments, he reminisced about his connection with you and all the positive things between you guys. Having said that, where exactly are you from so I can credit the current city in which you live in our GWCC fan appreciation wall. Happy New Year! Thanks and all the best!

Best,

Meteorologist Jordan Rabinowitz

Hello there Jordan & thanks for your kind comments. I live in Bilsington, Kent, extreme south east Kent, just off the Romney Marsh, 4 or 5 miles s.e. of Ashford town. Bilsington is a tiny village with no shops, just a Pub, a great village hall & an 11th. century Church. About 200 or so inhabitants in the entire parish.

I am not a professional meteorologist, just an elderly fellow with an avid interest in meteorology, astronomy, vulcanology, seismology, etc. since the age of 5. Kind regards, Fred.
