DISCUSSION: As we continue to get further into the 21st century, there is little to no debate that mankind is continuing to have an ongoing impact to global ecosystems spread across the globe. Whether it is dealing with plastic cups, plastic bags, synthetic fabrics, used medical supplies, or other various artificial plastic-based products, there is a growing problem when it comes to the release of various products and corresponding chemicals into the worlds oceans. However, like any other problem which mankind has faced, is currently facing, or may face in the future, there is always a plausible solution to any legitimate problem.
For example, when it comes to contending with the current and future impacts of various plastics on global marine life, there is no question that there is much to be done to avoid further damage to what has already become a horrific situation in the case of many different marine species. This a result of the reality that many turtles which have been found dead in recent research has come along with the discovery of microplastic materials being present in their system upon further investigation. Hence, there is no doubt that mankind has certainly had a definite and discernable impact on marine ecosystems and marine species from around the world.
However, there have been and will continue to be things which people around the world can do to help alleviate the impacts of current and future environmental impacts from various plastic materials. First and foremost, the key issue here is finding ways to both limit the use of and improve the efficiency of recycling various materials which must continue to be used. One major example of this dilemma is the continued used of plastic bags which can often be confused by many different types of marine life as being their standard prey which can often be an effective “death sentence” for various marine life. So, above all else, the best policy to avoid such issues is to eliminate the use of plastic bags for every day use such for shopping or for packing stuff up for trips. Instead, consider integrating brown bags for shopping and biodegradable solutions for packing up for trips in order to facilitate a more sustainable future.
