Red Flag warnings are in effect for southern California, as fire conditions are expected to reach critical levels by Wednesday into Thursday evening. A combination of Santa Ana winds, high temperatures in the mid 90s, and low humidity in the (teens and single digits) will bring critical conditions to parts of Santa Barbara as well as a good portion of both Ventura and Los Angeles county.
Santa Ana winds are most often characterized as being hot/dry winds which blow in from the desert towards the coast. These winds tend to occur during the following time frame (between September to May) when the desert is cooler than the Los Angeles basin. For more facts about Santa Ana winds click here!
