STRONG THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING PLENTY OF LIGHTNING ACROSS EASTERN EUROPE! (credit: Meteo Europe)

DISCUSSION: Beginning earlier this afternoon (local time over in Eastern Europe), there have a large area of strong thunderstorms heading east across Central and now Eastern Europe!  As indicated in the graphic from blitzortung.org, you can clearly see the intense areas of lightning strikes most densely concentrated across Northeastern Slovakia, Western Ukraine, and Belarus this evening with the white to yellowish-colored regions indicate locations of lightning strikes which have occurred with the past 30 to 40 minutes.  Of particular interest in the especially impressive lightning density across Central and Eastern Belarus as seen in the northern portion of the red-outlined region in the graphic below!
