DISCUSSION: As strong storms fired up across parts of Central and Southern Europe earlier today (local time), some of these stronger storms encountered areas of enhanced vertical wind shear. This presence of increased vertical wind shear acted to increase the degree to which the storms developed substantial deep-layer rotation such as this particular storm which was observed over Varna, Bulgaria much earlier today. Note the evident layering which was observed with this particular storm which indicates the presence of particularly strong wind shear in the vicinity of the storm as it matured!
