Lenticular clouds earlier today over the island of Crete! (credit: Maria Dikaiakou and Zina Prapa)2/13/2016
DISCUSSION: Here is a great post courtesy of Severe Weather Greece which depicts gorgeous lenticular clouds over the island of Crete. Lenticular clouds often form as a result of laminar flow aloft in the atmosphere which flows over higher terrain; inducing localized condensation of moisture over the higher terrain which forms the lenticular clouds! Beautiful shots to say the least! To learn more about other high-impact weather events from across Europe, be sure to click here!
DISCUSSION: Check out this awesome time-lapsed footage of fog moving through valleys (and engulfing roads) in Trollstigen, Norway! Note how you can clearly see the fluid characteristics of this valley fog event as the fog bank cascaded through this particular valley in Trollstigen, Norway! Very neat stuff to see in action!
