DISCUSSION: Here is some truly remarkable footage of a lightning strike captured dangerously close to the proximity of the camera's position.  This video was taken by Brett Rollason over in Sydney, Australia earlier yesterday!  Note how you can identify multiple directions in which smaller-scale electric discharge branched out from the primary electric channel.  Though this often occurs in many different types of thunderstorms, it is always neat to see it unfold!  To learn more about other high-impact weather events from across Australia and the South Pacific Ocean, be sure to click here!
