DISCUSSION: Across the Central to Eastern Caribbean Sea, there are large areas of clouds blossoming as of earlier this morning associated with an increasing threat for heavier showers and embedded thunderstorms for later this afternoon and this evening (local time). Through looking at this visible satellite image as of earlier this morning, it is abundantly clear that there was a decently large area of deeper clouds developing just to the northeast of Puerto Rico. As these deeper convective towers begin moving to the west through the day, heavier rainfall will begin to impact Eastern, Central, and ultimately Western parts of Puerto Rico. Note that the higher terrain of Puerto Rico will likely observe heavier rainfall due to the orographic enhancement triggered by the moistened air-mass moving over the more mountainous regions of Puerto Rico.
