DISCUSSION: By looking back to the period between March 2nd and 3rd of 2012, we arrive at a very scary couple of weather days in recent history. During this 2-day period back in 2012, a large area of strong to Severe storms impacted a large section of the southern United States as well as areas stretching into the Ohio Valley Region. These storms produced 70 confirmed tornadoes and over 700 reports of severe winds and hail. The storms killed 41, including 22 in Kentucky alone as noted by the "This Day in Weather History" page on Facebook.
